Description of Your Club’s Special Event
On Thursday, August 15th at 5:00 p.m. at the Pier B Resort the Rotary Club of Duluth #25 will host a premier fundraising event. 13 lucky winning (adopted) ducks will be plucked from the waters of Pier B on what will be a perfect balmy summer evening! This Special Event replaces our regular noon meeting. Plan to be there. Do not miss out.
The proceeds from this enterprise will support the Mental Health Access Program at the Boys and Girls Club. Earlier this year we invited local organizations to submit proposals for a signature initiative for our Club to have an impact and make a difference in our community. After presentations from the finalists, the membership voted to select the Boys and Girls Club. Our goal now is to support this initiative annually up to $25,000 per year.
Rotary Club of Duluth #25 and the citizens of Duluth have a long tradition of being generous. Funds raised by the Duck Pluck in excess of $25,000 will be held by the Rotary Club of Duluth Foundation, your local foundation, for future Duluth Rotary Club projects.
How Can You Help Make a Difference
Glad you asked! There is a myriad of ways to be involved, and each and every Rotarian in the club is necessary to make this fundraising event a success and fulfill our commitment.
Adopt a Duck
As of last count 500 ducks have been adopted. Our goal is 5,000. We use “adopt” as opposed to “sell” when talking about our ducks. If everyone does their part in getting out the word and making sure everyone we know has the opportunity to adopt one of our ducks, we will exceed our goal! Many, many generous Rotarians have already adopted a raft of ducks. Some have taken the next step to become event sponsors. To each and every Rotarian - THANK YOU! Now we need to spread our wings and fly out into the community. We have a dedicated website for this fun, philanthropic event
www.duluthrotaryduckpluck.comThis site has all the information and material you need to download pre-adoption papers and talk to friends, family and business associates about the event itself and duck adoptions. Bring completed adoption papers and either the cash or a check to a Thursday meeting or the Rotary Office so that the adoptions can be entered.
