Northern Lights Express Project
Northern Lights Express Project

This meeting will be held in the Train Museum of the Depot.

Build it Now! First Time Federal Funding is available for the Northern Lights Express Train from Duluth/Superior to Minneapolis

Passage of the bi-partisan Infrastructure Law has a provision to spend up to $18 billion dollars to build expanded passenger rail service across the country. Of all the thirty possible pair cities identified by Amtrak as being fundable, only one project has a Finding of No Significant Impact by the Federal Railroad Administration, which means it is shovel ready. That's Northern Lights Express!  What's the next step and what can you do to have a train between Duluth/Superior and Minneapolis. A train that will change everything!

COP26 Take-Aways
COP26 Take-Aways

The world had high hopes for the United Nations 26th Conference of the Parties in Glasgow, Scotland last November. What were the goals of COP26? What were the outcomes? What can we be happy about and what should we feel frustrated about? What can we expect going into COP27?  Join Cathy Jordan from the UMN Twin Cities Campus who led a delegation of faculty, staff and students to Glasgow. After hearing her observations, we will engage in dialogue about what we can do to encourage progress on addressing climate change.

This virtual program is a wonderful opportunity to hear from a speaker we would not otherwise be able to have at Club #25.  Don't miss Cathy's program on the COP26 conference.

Join us on February 10 for a program by Club #25 member Vin Gupta for a fascinating presentation on the Science of Manifestation.  It's a great program to start this New Year of 2022.

There two main ingredients of Happiness: Gratitude and to manifest what you want. By manifesting what you want in life, your life becomes fulfilled. In this talk I will share with you about the science of manifestation. There are four pillars of manifestation. I will apply those pillars to my 2021 resolutions.

Marshall's Launch of The Forest School, Fall 2022

The Forest School at Marshall is an elementary program serving students ages 4 through 4th grade. Forest School students spend an average of 40% or more of their time outdoors, utilizing Marshall's 40+-acre campus and two forest biomes as the classroom environment. Literacy, numeracy, science, the arts, and culture are explored daily with teachers dedicated to supporting physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth. The Forest School curriculum and experiences are designed for students to create a lifelong connection with nature and each other, as they learn through curiosity and discovery.

Mental Health Access Program
Mental Health Access Program

Thanks to the support of Rotary Club of Duluth #25, in spring of 2019 the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northland began providing mental health services and support in the Clubs. Our initial programming goals were to integrate the mental health staff into the Clubs and create dialogues that helped to remove the stigma attached to mental health related issues.

Through the positive relationships with focused mental health counselors on site and the support of trusted staff we have worked to create a safe environment for youth to get help and remove barriers to accessing these much-needed services. As the pandemic changed our world and the way we interact, the need for mental health supportive services for our youth has only continued to grow.

At present the program has up to three mental health interns from local universities and colleges and established relationships for out-patient services with four local mental health providers. We also recently added a full-time Behavioral Health Coordinator position to oversee the program and its imminent growth in the coming years.
