Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!

Rotary Singers in action

The meeting was kicked off with the Rotary Singers entertaining their fellow Rotarians with a few holiday classics.

As one might expect, the pre-holiday meeting attendance was a bit light. President Chana Stocke rang the bell and called the meeting to order. Rotarians and guests then recited the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a hearty rendition of the National Anthem with accompaniment by Past President John Baumgarten, finishing up with the Rotary 4-way Test.

Past President Branden Robinson

Past President Branden Robinson offered a touching reflection about how there are still good things to celebrate, even during a year wrought with challenges and divisiveness. The introduction of the COVID-19 vaccines, the increased use of electric vehicles around the world, and the eradication of polio in Africa are all worthy of celebration, as is our Rotarian family who are there for one another in good times and in bad. Past President Branden Robinson asked the group to take a moment of silence to honor those fellow Rotarians we’ve lost, as well as those in our personal lives.

President Chana Stocke introduced Lorelei Holland, guest, and spouse of Noah Holland; Tony Perrella, son of President-Elect Barb Perrella, and Past District Governor Earl Rogers (who need no introduction!) with his wife Judy Rogers

Past President John Baumgartner self-reported that he and his wife just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He apologies for not being able to kick the can as he used his last few dollars to buy 50/50 tickets! President Chana Stocke thanked Mary Niemeyer and the Special Events Committee for putting together the fun and fabulous holiday happy hour at the Boat House last week. Good time, good food, and good Christmas carols by the Rotary Singers!
President Chana Stocke also thanked Rotarians who took time to ring the little red bells for the Salvation Army Red Kettle fundraiser, as well as those Rotarians who helped at the Life House Thanksgiving dinner. Thanks to Dan Dock for coordinating the volunteer opportunity again this year! President Chana Stocke reminded Rotarians there is no meeting next week. The next meeting is January 6, 2022.

Much to the crowd’s delight, the Rotary Singers again took to the front of the room to sing a few additional Christmas tunes, which were met with applause and appreciation.

Guest Lorelei Holland pulled the winning 50/50 ticket which belonged to Past President Dean Casperson. Dean received a “major award” — no, not a leg lamp, but $35 instead.

Darn, I really wanted that!!!
