Highlights from Last Week’s Meeting
By Rob Hofmann
President Gary Melander called the meeting to order and led Rotarians and guests in singing “The Star Spangled Banner” accompanied by Past President John Baumgarten on piano. Members then recited the Rotary Four-Way Test of the things we say, do, and believe.
Rob Hofmann offered the day’s Reflection. What is inspiration, and how it helps the growth of an individual and make better communities. By our motto “Service Above Self,” Rotarians are inspired to continue to do good works in our Duluth community with hopes that our example inspires others.
Rob Hofmann gives an inspiring reflection on inspiration.
President Gary Melander offered up The Golden Can for anyone who wished to self-report. Past Assistant District Governor Phil Strom accepted the offer by announcing his 57 years of marriage to his “German Girl” – Babs. Congratulations Phil Strom, you’re an inspiration for all of us!
Past Assistant District Governor Phil Strom shares that he and his wife Babs are celebrating their 57th anniversary.
Our January Junior Rotarians were then introduced by New Generations Director-Chair Rob Hofmann, Harbor City Liaison Geiger Yount, and Denfeld Liaison Jeff Fifield along with East Liaison Jena Evans. Please spend time with our Junior Rotarians this month as they are excited to hear about your careers and learn from your example.
Farewell to our November and hello to our January Junior Rotarians!
President
Gary Melander introduced our guest presenter
Brian Alementi, a nationally recognized speaker, master trainer, and coach. His theme was “Unleash the Rhythm and Magic of Your Life.” And the magic we witnessed! With a great deal of energy and audience participation, Brian demonstrated that
growth is inevitable when passion is evident. Much of Brian’s presentation was drawn from his life experiences and challenges. Brian shared how he overcame the “Stinkin’ Thinkin’” (all negative) resulting from a layoff and adjusted his thinking with a positive “Mind Shift” – an active change in responding to circumstances.
Passion, and recognizing and embracing what our passions are, makes all the difference in changing ourselves and the culture of our place of work. “How? The actions and examples of
positive and inspired people have the capability to define a company’s culture.
Our speaker, Brian Alementi illustrated his presentation with rhythm-challenges and magic.
