Responding to Disaster and Conflict
As the COVID disaster locked down the world in the spring of 2020, Rotary General Secretary John Hewko declared: “ShelterBox has a vitally important part to play in the global response!” From humble origins as a Rotary Club’s millennial project to the official partner of Rotary International for disaster relief, ShelterBox has reached over 2,000,000 people who have been displaced by disaster or conflict.
Highlights from Last Week’s Meeting
By Al Makynen
Seventy Rotarians and their guests enjoyed the hospitality and gardens at the home of Betty George. The evening skies were sunny with a great view of the bay as you wandered through the extensive gardens she has been cultivating since 2007.

Those who arrived just before the official event start time of 5:00 p.m. watched the 1,014 foot Paul R. Tregurtha glide across the bay toward the raised Ariel Lift Bridge. All others were “bridged” for an extended period. Past District Governor Earl Rogers along with Judy was able to make it once the bridge was down.

Great food and great fellowship. You could sense the return of energy as we were able to gather. There was no program. There were no announcements.
