Update from the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce

Matt Baumgartner is the President of the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce; one of the largest and most influential Chambers in the state of Minnesota. He is passionate about leadership and is driven by a dedication to making the Duluth region a better place for everyone through business advocacy, leadership, and relationship-building. Prior to joining the Chamber, Matt worked for 15 years in business management with Grandma’s Inc., in roles primarily focused on people, operations, and financials.
Matt has served on many boards over the years and currently serves on the MN Chamber Executives Board, the University of MN Medical School Duluth Campus Advisory Board, the Duluth Central Alumni Association Board, the Bethel Society Board, as the Chair of the Duluth Area YMCA Corporate Board. He is also a member of the MN CFA Society.
Matt holds a Bachelor's, an MBA, a postgraduate Leadership Certificate from the Wharton School, and is a CFA Candidate. Matt is married to Amanda and they have two children: Ruby Sue and Benny. They live in Lakeside; a short 5-minute drive from Matt's parents' house.

Dan Fanning is the Vice President of the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce and the Executive Director of the Duluth Area Chamber Foundation. Dan has extensive experience working in public policy and government relations, marketing, and strategic communications. Prior to joining the Chamber, Dan worked in higher education at LCS and at UWS, as well as in politics at the Federal, State, and Local level, last working in the Ness Administration.
Dan is a decorated combat veteran and a natural leader and strategist. He as been awarded the Sergeant Major's Leadership Award, the Veterans' Voices on the Rise Award, the Veterans Excellence in Service Award, was named a DNT 20 under 40, and was awarded the Chancellor's Leadership award during his time at UWS.
Dan holds a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Advocacy and Political Leadership. He also lives in Lakeside with his wife Melissa, they have three children, and one grandchild.
